“Mille Infrastrutture – Rete d’imprese” was born for the monitoring and security of infrastructures. The first example of a technological chain of excellence that covers the entire national territory for the monitoring of critical infrastructures. Innovation, selectivity and competitiveness in support of the country’s security, cohesion and development in line with the objectives of the PNRR
Rome, 05 August 2021 – Signed the contract for the establishment of “Mille Infrastrutture – Rete d’imprese”, the first and largest network of companies in Italy, created for the static and dynamic monitoring of infrastructures, with particular reference to bridges, viaducts and tunnels. The Network is a concrete response to the missions and priorities included in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and in the related Complementary Fund. A new legal entity is born today, thanks to the precious legal support of the NCTM studio, to give continuity of action to the “Mille Infrastrutture” project, already nominated in August 2020 as part of the “Strade Sicure” intervention measure, for an initial value of over 450 million euros.
This project, by virtue of its particular capacity for innovation and utility, presents itself as a driving force for economic development and for the country’s security. The initiative for the creation of the “Thousand Infrastructures” network starts from the Technological Districts of Basilicata, Liguria, Piedmont and Campania, and involves large, medium and small businesses, together with research centers and universities, including the Italian Institute of Technology and the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna of Pisa, for a total of over eighty public and private players. A network of complementary skills that sees major players in the field as protagonists
of technological innovation. The presence as a strategic node of Leonardo, the main Italian industrial company and one of the world leaders in the Aerospace Defense & Security sector, ensures the team a univocal and integrated vision and favors technology transfer along the entire production chain, from North to South.
“The Network will be a vector of development and innovation throughout the peninsula and will pay particular attention to the revitalization of the South, a priority objective of the PNRR, to strengthen cohesion and promote economic growth. A solid technological axis will be created for infrastructure monitoring and risk prevention: a unicum for the country system in terms of innovative scope, effectiveness and reliability” – said Antonio Colangelo, President of the TeRN consortium of Basilicata and newly elected President of the Network, as well as promoter of the contract together with Eng. Remo Pertica, President of the Ligurian Technology District Siit.
In fact, the main objective of the cooperation is the creation of a cutting-edge technological platform, capable of managing the data acquired through innovative multi-sensory and satellite systems, and applying artificial intelligence solutions to guarantee the monitoring of all the parameters that ensure control of the stability and security of the country’s infrastructure. The platform can then be used for monitoring other works and provide operators and the authorities in charge of safety with an effective alert and maintenance tool.
The strength of the Network is represented by its impartial character and absolute independence in the provision of the service in question, to guarantee the reliability and transparency of the data and information provided to support decisions by stakeholders. The particular organizational model on which the “Mille
Infrastructures” represents a best practice that can be replicated on a European scale, responding to the objectives of protecting citizens and safeguarding the infrastructural heritage.
